All of this in the quest to feel whole, to get to the end of life as "complete," yet the whole ride is spent never feeling as if what we have is enough. "If/when _______ happens, all will be well," is the mantra, then that moment arrives and something new always comes up.
Our Bodymind believes our existence is about addition. It then appears that subtraction plays a more useful role, as shown in the "neti neti" (not this, not this) process to self-realization. As things peel away, desires become less, we feel lighter, more free. "Oh, the things I used to care about! Wow, they're going away." It's freeing and delightful, yet not quite on the mark. It's close, but not quite there (wherever "there" is).
What is, the present moment, cannot be made better through addition OR subtraction. There's nothing more or less that could make it better. In fact, there's nothing more or less that can be considered! It just is. There's freedom in discovering that it's not more, but less, that moves us closer to wholeness. But the ultimate freedom is in realizing that nothing can be added or removed at all, more and less are just concepts, the desire for either is still a desire.
