Education Minister On The Need To Adhere To CXC's Examination Guidelines

Education Minister On The Need To Adhere To CXC's Examination Guidelines Minister of Education, Anthony Garcia says secondary school Principals have been reminded to apprise students sitting the CSEC and CAPE examinations, of the need to adhere to the guidelines set for examinations by the Caribbean Examinations Council.

This follows a report of misconduct during the CSEC Mathematics Paper at one secondary school. A video circulating on social media highlighted crosstalk and students using cell phones during the exam. Minister Garcia was asked in the House of Representatives on Friday to state what action is being taken to avoid further examination breaches. He listed guidelines to prevent cheating. The Minister cannot say just yet how the students at the school, where the exam was breached, will be affected.

The Ministry has since terminated the services of the invigilators at this Examination Centre. According to the Ministry, a thorough investigation of this incident is being conducted and a full report will be submitted to CXC, who will determine the consequences for the actions of students.
