NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has stated the use of medical marijuana and cannabis produced CBD oil for pain management and inflammation will be determined by doctors and the research that is produced by the mental health committee, the wellness committee, and the joint pain management committee. There has been research to suggest CBD oil could be useful in concussion recovery. Having a mental health professional on team facilities should also provide players struggling with depression, anxiety, or other various problems receive treatment they need. Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Chris Long retired this week, and stated via Profootballtalk that he used marijuana while playing. Maybe a mental health professional could help player like Ezekiel Elliot who had a minor off field issue this week in Las Vegas, or players like Josh Gordon, Kareem Hunt, and Richie Incognito. That’s Good Sports takes a look at what this means for NFL players moving forward.
