It’s all thanks to Airbnb and a partnership with RXR Realty, one of the city’s biggest real estate developers.
The idea is to convert commercial space into what the companies call, “a new category of urban lodging,” and they’re starting with taking over 10 floors of the iconic 75 Rockefeller Plaza, allowing guests to get a birds-eye-view of the area that’s always hoppin’ around the holidays.
Bloomberg reports the home-share giant will make around 200 apartment-style suites.
CNBC says they’re basically hotel rooms with kitchens and living rooms that are only available on the Airbnb platform.
As far as amenities go, Travel + Leisure says guests get access to a private social club on the top floor, collaborative work spaces and experiences to give you a taste of local life so you can a bite out of the Big Apple.
No need to order pizza from Room Service when a good slice is right outside your door.
The goal is to finish up the project next year, according to The Real Deal, but both companies are already looking at plans at another RXR property across from the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
