Why I No Longer Wear Makeup - A Brief Testimony How God Changed My Heart

I used to wear a full face of makeup every day, I felt incomplete without it and would not feel comfortable with myself without it until God convicted me to stop, it was a gradual process which took time, it started with foundation and then I stopped wearing mascara and then stopped filling in my eyebrows... Every time I would pick up makeup to apply to my face the holy ghost would stop me and convict me to the point I couldn't wear it any longer, at first I struggled with it a lot and would go back and forth wearing it and then not wearing it and then eventually I gave it up all together, I threw out everything I had, the last things were my mascara, eyeliner and eye lash curler. I recieved a lot of joy afterwards and have not looked back. The confidence I have now is far greater than what I had when I did wear makeup.

I believe God desires all women to be bare faced, and to not alter their physical appearance because that is how God made us, perfect in His image, how sad is it that so many women don't love and adore what God made. He made us all beautiful and yet woman today are unhappy with his perfect creation and try to alter their image and then justify their actions, yet God is hurt over it because we do not love what He made. Truly I believe all women can be set free from the chains of bondage that makeup has and embrace the face and body that God gave them. God desires peace for us and for us to have no other gods before him, makeup can be a huge idol for many women (it was for me) I didn't think I could live without it, but by the grace of God I am now completey free from it. I have confidence in the way he created me and embrace my natural beauty as he intended. It truly does honour and glorify God, but not when you do it for works, it is through the conviction and grace of the holy ghost... So I do warn for anyone who feels like they have to rid themselves of makeup for the sake of pleasing God, do not do it... but rather ask that God would take your desire for it away and give you new desires and help you to love yourself as he created you. We should do nothing in our own strength and by our own merits, it is by the GRACE of God that we are convicted and choose to put these things away, it is THROUGH Him that we overcome these things. So do not force yourselves if you haven't received personal conviction, I share this to encourage other women in the right direction, not to glorify myself in any way. Watching other womens testimonies did help me a lot through my own conviction so that is why I am sharing this for godly edification and encouragement.
Truly, God has set me free of this idol that was once in my life and I am telling you He can set you free also. For His glory!
