ATS-5 50th Anniversary Recreation: Centaur Goes Geosynchronous

ATS-5 50th Anniversary Recreation: Centaur Goes Geosynchronous On the morning of August 12, 1969, Centaur made its first successful flight to geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO), carrying NASA's ATS-5 experimental communications satellite.

Decades on, the venerable hydrogen-powered upper stage still delivers payloads to this type of orbit on a regular basis, for NASA, the military, government, and commercial customers the world over.

Made in a format much like ULA's current mission profile videos.
Animation created in STK
Trajectory designed using GMAT.
