We select counselors,mentors,advisors more often than not based on our carnality and not our spirituality. If you materialistic the man with the most material will be a voice of authority at some level in your life.
If you are obsessed with platforms the man with the biggest platform will be a voice of reason at some level in your life.
If you are rebellious the man who fights everyone and everything will be a voice of authority in your life.
It is human nature to find comfort in people who minister more to our flesh than what they do to our spirit...
We divorce ourselves from people who tell us there is more to the kingdom than just that.......
