Mumbai: Auto driver from viral video of Virar platform arrested, released on bail

The auto-rickshaw driver who helped ferry a woman who had gone into labour inside a train stuck at Mumbai’s Virar station was arrested on August 5 but later released on bail. Sagar Gawad did not hesitate to zip down on the Virar platform in his auto when the woman’s husband pleaded him to help take her to a hospital. The incident was shot by several passengers and captured on CCTV as well. Videos of the auto zipping down the platform had quickly gone viral on social media.
