That is not to say I can't ever have things like fried chicken, but I need to make that decision understanding what it means for me in terms of the rest of the day.
Weight loss is more or less a scientific process. The amount of calories in needs to be less than the amount of calories exerted. And while there is nuance in what nutrients you need, and what foods are good and bad for you, everything ultimately boils back down to calories.
So that is not to say I can't have a piece of fried chicken. I just need to understand that one piece of fried chicken is easily two and a half to three pieces of steamed chicken. I get a lot more value simply by changing the cooking method.
All this plays into the big picture of losing weight. The decisions I make, the consequences of those decisions, and having strategies for dealing with days where I just want to treat myself all play a port. The more planning and preparation I do, the better off I am for dealing with the consequences.
In the end, I came in under my target for the day. All that comes down to just understanding what I needed to do to compensate for indulging a little bit.
Every day is a learning process, and even when I do make bad decisions and I can't cope with them, the biggest mistake would be to not learn from that mistake.
