The government of one of the South African provinces decided to take d The government of one of the South African provinces decided to take drastic measures in order to make the ablution units in the schools, safe for the children to use. The biggest challenge are the schools situated in rural areas where there is no water supply and canalization to install flush toilets and the pit toilets must be used. The installation of the water supply and canalization / sewerage treatment plant was deemed to be too expensive. The school governing body decided to hire a qualified Maintenance Manager to come up with an innovative solution to solve the problem which caused unspeakable tragedy in some families where a child life was lost. You are the Maintenance Manager of that rural school with over 800 learners and 20 staff members. One of your tasks as a Manager is to oversee a maintenance project to make the pit toilets hygienic and safe to use by the learners and staff alike. There is a small river nearby from where you may use some water, but during the dry season the water supply from the river diminishes as the river may run dry. You are given 90 days and a budget of R 15 million for the facility upgrading project. In your project you will replace the old toilets; introduce new upgraded version of pit toilets using water from the nearby river and buy new necessary equipment to ensure all-year round water supply. As this project needs some geological and civil engineering knowledge, you will have to pay consultants in this regard. You also decide to implement Reliability Centered Maintenance as the RCM principles may be used for any project, not just in an engineering manufacturing plant. Your task for this portfolio-type assignment is to write a technical report that demonstrates how you would co-ordinate and execute the entire project. Your report should highlight the following topics covered in the module: 4.   Inventory Management: Decide upon the best practice in inventory management. Stipulate and justify the method you will adopt. Which
