2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport -
The refreshed 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport arrives with even more technology and a new mild-hybrid engine option. The updated SUV will go on sale in the U.S. this summer.
The styling changes for the 2020 Discovery Sport are small but significant. New headlights have a more angular shape with LED running lights running along the lower edges.
The front fascia has a simpler appearance with thin vertical inlets on each side. The changes are similar at the rear where there are square-shaped lamps with a pointy edge on each side.
A simplified bumper now conceals the exhaust pipes. Under the hood, there's a new 48-volt mild-hybrid powertrain with an engine-mounted belt-integrated starter generator.
The powerplant produces 296 horsepower (221 kilowatts), but the non-electrified 246-hp (183-kW) Ingenium four-cylinder engine is also available.
Land Rover gives the interior of the Discovery Sport an overhaul, including adding Luxtex upholstery from recycled polyester microfiber that has a look akin to suede.
Among tweaks, there are now 40:20:40 split second-row seats, and folks in the third row get access to cupholders. For staying connected, wireless charging is available, in addition to USB and 12-volt ports.
A revised center console incorporates a standard 10-inch infotainment display, and the multi-function steering wheel gets capacitive switches.
The new tech also includes a smart rearview mirror that offers a video feed from the back with a 50-degree view of what's going on behind the SUV.
The ClearSight Ground View tech offers a 180-degree view beneath the Disco Sport to deal with rough terrain.
The available Driver assistance tech includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Steering Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Driver Condition Monitor.
