Day 2, Hunger Strike for the Right to Make Choices

Day 2, Hunger Strike for the Right to Make Choices More information, please visit

Started yesterday, Sept, 4th, 2019, a man in his 60s declared his hunger strike, a unique way to say NO to HNC in Fremont !

In front of the Fremont City Hall, the local government working place, Mr. Sun was found calmly sitting next to the sidewalk, with a huge hiking backpack full of camping gears.
A poster leaning on the tree with his statements on it: Day 1, Hunger strike for the right to make choices. Here are some of our conversations:

Us: Why are you doing it this way?
Sun: I just want to show the city council my demands and my rights.

Us: Don’t you worry about your health?
Sun: No. I used to run Marathon and I’m confident about my health.

Us: Don’t you worry about any consequences?
Sun: What do I have to worry about? What can they do to me?

Us: Does your wife or kid support you?

Sun: Yes, my wife has no problem with me doing this. My daughter has gone back to her school.

Sun: If I’m made an accident, please fight for my redress.
Us: Please don’t say that!

There was his friend passed him a cup of black coffee, this is his only drink beside water. He had an experience of hiking PCT alone for almost a month, and he got a very strong body and mind. He was dropped off this morning so he doesn’t have a car to drive away. He has already prepared posters up to Day 10. What a determined strong man!

If you have time, please go visit him and talk to him. So far he doesn’t need anything, but we will check on him and make sure he is safe, healthy and sound.

Let’s cheer for our hero !
