The Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN), a joint venture between Himachal and the central government, claims that electricity will be supplied from Nepal to India by the year 2022-23. This power will come from SJVN's 900 MW hydroelectric project under construction in Nepal. SJVN CMD Nand Lal Sharma claims that the construction work will be completed in due time. Along with this, the work of building a 217 km long 400 kV double circuit transmission line from Nepal to the Indian border will also be completed. Bihar and its neighboring states will be given electricity in India
Nand Lal Sharma said that Bihar and its neighboring states will be given electricity in India, while 21.9 per cent power will be given free to Nepal under the MoU. The remaining power will be exported from Nepal to India. With the start of power generation in this project, not only will the demand of electricity in Nepal be fulfilled, but people will get employment. India will also get its benefits.
