Meaning of STAY TUNED - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles

Meaning of STAY TUNED - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles READ ALONG TO PRACTICE YOUR ENGLISH AND TO LEARN THE MEANING OF STAY TUNED: So in English when we say to someone, stay tuned, what we're saying is that we want them to keep watching, or keep listening for more information about something that's going to happen. We used to hear this phrase a lot on television and on the radio. Announcers on the radio would say, stayed tuned folks because coming up next is a new song from some really cool band, and then they would have a commercial and then they would play the new song, but the phrase, stay tuned, also works in our current modern world. In YouTube videos people will say, there's an upcoming live stream so stay tuned for more information. They don't mean that you actually have to tune in to YouTube like you tune in to a radio station but if someone says, stay tuned, it means that more information is coming and if you pay attention you will hear about it, so stay tuned.

We have another phrase, a phrasal verb, to tune out. This is a little bit different. When I am talking in my videos, if you start to think about other things, if you start to get bored, we would say that you are starting to tune out. When you tune out it means that you stop paying attention to someone who is speaking to you, or stop paying attention to a video or a TV show that you are watching, and you start to think about other things. So I hope that while you were watching my videos, you don't tune out. I hope that you stay tuned in, which is paying attention. Anyways, Bob the Canadian here, and you're learning English with me, I hope you're having a good day.
