École Polytechnique massacre 30th anniversary observed in Montreal

Dec. 6 marked the 30th anniversary of the École Polytechnique massacre in Montreal, where 14 women at the school were murdered by a gunman who stormed through classrooms, the cafeteria and hallways of the building on Dec. 6, 1989. They were killed in an anti-feminist rampage, which remains Canada’s deadliest shooting.

People gathered at Mount Royal Chalet in Montreal to observe the anniversary of the tragedy. Speakers included Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Governor General Julie Payette, Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante and more.
