La Morena is Using Her Murals to Send a Powerful Message

Lucinda is more than just an artist—she’s a community advocate, activist and educator. Her vibrant murals can be seen across the country in communities and galleries, each one speaking up for issues like immigration, feminism and spirituality. In 2015, Lucinda teamed up with a group of artists for a mural project. She saw the powerful impact art can make and knew she wanted to dig her heels in and continue down this path. She painted her first solo mural in Rochester, NY in 2017 called Blessings for La Communidad. The painting went viral, making a name for La Morena Art. Today, Lucinda continues to collaborate with organizations and nonprofits to stand up for the issues that matter to her community and give them hope to keep moving forward in the pursuit of progress.
