It's very tough to comeback after 5 years, 20 years and even 50 years! You are on the channel of a music teacher that has helped many brass players successfully begin playing their horn again and a few of these comeback players started after...50 years of not touching the horn.
There is a wrong way and a right way.
The wrong way has you looking at every option THAT is free.
Anonymous forum users or the teachers those anonymous users represent when you start a new thread asking for help. BAD IDEA!
99% of ALL forum users can't play their horn beyond an intermediate level, but you are listening to their advice!
BAD
Next, just rehashing the stuff you did before and hoping it works. You know: Getting out the old recordings, past music books, old method books like the Arban's and just "dusting" things off and starting slowly.
BAD IDEA...won't work even for the most talented brass players.
You need to get with an expert at helping comeback players...not just another trumpet or brass teacher, BUT an expert.
How do you find this expert?
BY THE LARGE AMOUNT OF SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS THAT TOOK LESSONS FROM HIM/HER!
In my case, Kurt Thompson, that means SO MANY comeback players helped and now having fun! So many have left VIDEO REVIEWS of their time spent with me.
Yes, LOOK for an instructor with a ton of students talking about WHAT they got from working with that teacher. The Students must be real, not fake anonymous users.
If you do that, you surely will be on the road to success and happiness again with your horn!
