Gold Diggers Of 1933 - Selection - Jack Payne and his Band August 22nd marks the anniversary of the birth of Jack Payne, one of the most popular British bandleaders of the inter-war era.
This selection of vibrant songs from the one of the most successful films of the time - "Gold Diggers of 1933". With songs composed by Harry Warren and Al Dubin and the musical numbers directed by Busby Berkeley.
There were nine British dance band recordings of tunes from the film. The Jack Payne version being one of the less likely to be found. The makers of Imperial records, Crystalate, were by this time giving the emphasis to their new label, Rex. The Imperial label would finish in early 1934.
Ronnie Genarder and Billy Scott-Coomber provide one vocal each to this recording from late November 1933.
