Mid-Session 7 August 19: ASX 200 stabilises rather than recovers after yesterday’s sell-off

Local shares are posting modest gains at lunch. Weakness in bank and energy names is preventing a more meaningful recovery after the ASX 200 posted the biggest decline of the year a day earlier.
