In September 2019, he was accused of possessing child pornography by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office in Columbus. In a statement regarding Davis’ arrest, WBNS said, “At around 10 a.m. this morning, we learned that Mike Davis was arrested by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. We are currently learning more about the details and we will be reporting more about the story. We have no further comment at this time.” NBC Columbus reports, citing court documents, that on August 5, Davis, 60, is accused of trying to sell a pornographic image of a female child. A second-degree felony. The station says that Davis’ home was searched by sheriff’s deputies on the morning of September 5. The morning meteorologist lives in the Upper Arlington, northwest of downtown Columbus. Davis will be arraigned on September 6. According to Davis’ bio on WBNS’ website says that he has been working as a meteorologist since 1987. That bio says that Davis has written a book about the weather in Ohio, titled “The ABCs of Ohio Weather,” as well as working in education programs with the Franklin Park Conservatory. The profile goes on to say that Davis holds the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval and has served on the AMS Board of Broadcast Meteorology. In 2005 and 2006, Davis won Emmy and an Associated Press award for Best Weathercast and Best Weather Operation. Prior to working in Ohio, Davis had been a weatherman in Minnesota, Idaho and Las Vegas. Davis is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and went on to study Meteorology at Ohio State University. The meteorologist is married with three children has passions for “family, writing, wine, ice hockey and, of course, the weather.” Davis’ wife, Tama Davis, is a graduate of Ohio State University and was a producer with WBNS-TV between 1987 and 1999, according to her LinkedIn page. In an article written about Logan for the OSU student newspaper, The Lantern, in November 2016, Mike Davis is described as being a passionate hockey fan, particularly of the Minnesota North Stars, prior to the team’s move to Dallas. Davis told the newspaper that while taking his son to see the Columbus Blue Jackets against the Dallas Stars, Logan identified the goaltender position as being for him. Davis says, “From that game, (Logan) saw (Blue Jackets goaltender at the time) Ron Tugnutt. He pointed at him and he said, ‘Dad, that’s what I want to do.’” Logan Davis said of the game, “It wasn’t necessarily gameplay as much as it was the atmosphere (at Nationwide Arena) and that, to this day, is the most important thing to me.
