The Oakland Raiders 2019 53-man roster is set after Jon Gruden & Mike Mayock made their final roster cuts today. The NFL cut deadline was Saturday August 31, 2019 at 4 pm ET. The Raiders came into Saturday with over 90 players and after a successful preseason going 3-1, it was very difficult trimming the roster down to 53 players. Raider Nation has high hopes for this season because this Raiders’ roster has much more depth than in recent years on both offense and defense. The Raiders rumors & news this offseason was around a lot of the roster battles at QB, RB, WR, OL, DL, CB & S. The Raiders made big splashes this offseason trading for Antonio Brown to help give Derek Carr a number 1 WR. Oakland didn’t stop there, they also gave Derek another wide receiver in Tyrell Williams & a tackle in Trent Brown. Plus they built the defense going out and grabbing Lamarcus Joyner. They also added linebackers Vontaze Burfict and Brandon Marshall, but Marshall was a surprise cut on Friday. Which just goes to show, you never know what Gruden & Mayock are thinking.
Oakland’s preseason was a joy to watch because the 2019 rookies like Josh Jacobs, Johnathan Abram, Clelin Ferrell, Trayvon Mullen, Hunter Renfrow, and Maxx Crosby have played well. Also second year players like Maurice Hurst and Arden Key continue to show growth. What really made this cut deadline so interesting was all roster battles this offseason because UDFAs like Keelan Doss, Anthony Rush, A.J. Cole, Alec Ingold really stepped up and had themseleves a solid preseason.
Raiders preseason Week 4 was important for the 46 players that showed up for the Oakland Raiders. Yes, only 46. Raiders starters didn’t make the trip to Seattle. We got to see a lot of players that could be potentially cut in 2019. The players that Mitchell focused on were Mike Glennon, Nathan Peterman, James Butler, Mack Brown, Keith Smith, Alec Ingold, Marcell Ateman, Keon Hatcher, Keelan Doss, De'Mornay Pierson-El, Ethan Westbrooks, Luke Wilson, Josh Mauro, P.J. Hall, Anthony Rush, James Cowser, Te'von Coney, Kyler Wilber, Jason Cabinda, Makinton Dorleant, Dallin Leavitt, Jordan Richards, Nick Nelson, Nevin Lawson, David Sharpe, Lester Cotton, Andre James, Jordan Devey, Brandon Parker, Daniel Carlson, A.J. Cole, and Trent Sieg just to name a few.
