Climate activists from the Extinction Rebellion (XR) group are attempting to block and disrupt access to several roads, public spaces and government buildings such as the Palace of Westminster, in London on Tuesday, October 8.
Protesters plan two weeks of disruptive actions in 60 cities worldwide in order to attract governments’ attention to environmental issues such as climate change, wildlife loss, and greenhouse gas emissions.
According to the Metropolitan Police, more than 200 arrests in connection with the protests were made on, Monday, October 7, day one of the planned action.
