Requesting Assistance In Building Masājid | Shaykh ʿAbdul Muḥsin al-ʿAbbād

Requesting Assistance In Building Masājid | Shaykh ʿAbdul Muḥsin al-ʿAbbād Requesting Assistance In Building Masājid | Shaykh ʿAbdul-Muḥsin al-ʿAbbād

Question: Is it lawful to request assistance in establishing Masājid or to repair these Masājid or other than this from the things that contain benefit for the Muslims?

Shaykh ʿAbdul-Muḥsin al-ʿAbbād: “This is not a request on behalf of a person. This is permissible. The fact that a person might be an intermediary for good such that he asks for participation in a charitable project; this isn't an example of someone asking for something on his own behalf. Rather, this is from cooperation upon righteousness and piety.

The people are in need of Masājid and the fact that a person who take it upon himself to ask the people in order that they might participate in establishing a Masjid, then he has done good for himself and others.
He did good for those who he appealed to who ultimately participated and he did good to himself by involving himself in good.

And he did good for those people who were in need of a Masjid by facilitating for them to pray in that Masjid. So the like of this is not from what is prohibited.
What is prohibited is for a person to ask for himself. As for asking for various acts of goodness or in order to establish good things, wherein a person is truthful and there is no opportunity for scheming and consuming the wealth of the people based upon falsehood. Then for this there is no harm.”
